yeah that's why the formula is wrong. dave is the 3rd so 1+2+3 is 6 which is Kanaya and Rose is 1+2+4 which is 7 and that is Terezi. OP of that formula swapped their bdays which is the only reason it worked. you could also argue patrons chose their players and karkat and terezi both talked to john for a while depending on what timeline so it doesnt really work but if you want Eridan as your patron do what makes you happy just don't worry about a incorrect formula to say why

Actually, patron trolls are not determined by your zodiac sign, but rather by the numbers in your birthday! John Egbert is an Aries, but 4+1+3=8 which is Scorpio and his patron is Vriska. The numbers figure from Aries being 1 and twice around the Zodiac, with Pisces being both 12 and 24 (catch my drift)? I'm a Pisces (March 15!) but my patron, 3+1+5=9, is Equius. i think it’s generally accepted as a common disparity in canon accuracy that most people take “patron troll” to mean the troll that correlates to your sign on the zodiac, so that’s why i answered with my zodiac troll.

i can’t even tell you how many times i’ve played ‘[s] kanaya: return to the core.’ too many times. it’s just such a great eridan flash and a walkaround—i love the walkarounds—plus it has eridan’s theme and nautical nightmare and a thrusting sollux as an easter egg and erisol dueling and AUGH I JUST i just used that flash for so much of my character analysis and some of the dialogue showed up in buried hatchet so yeah. yeah. ‘[s] kanaya: return to the core’ for sure.
